THE MOST DANGEROUS ROAD IN THE WORLD


















The Atlantic Ocean Road located in Norway is a part of Norwegian national road with 8.3 kilometer (5.2 miles) long. It It passes by several small islands and connecting them with the mainland.


The route was originally proposed as a railway line in the early 20th century, but the project was abandoned. Then, on the same area, the construction of the road started in 1983. This 122 million Norwegian krone (1 USD = 6.7NOK) road was financed by 25% of tolls and the rest from public grants.



















The road was opened on 7 July 1989. The tolls was removed in 1999 after the road was paid off even the collection of tolls scheduled to run for 15 years. The road preserved as a cultural heritage site and classified as a National Tourist Route

It is a popular site for automotive commercials and has been declared the world's best road trip, and been awarded the title as "Norwegian Construction of the Century"
